Memorial Day weekend our family went to California for my cousin (the bride) and lifelong friends (the groom) wedding. My parents and I flew there a couple of days early to make sure we fully celebrated this great occasion. We flew into Las Vegas because it was less expensive. We arrived very late on Thursday and made it to our hotel and slept. Friday morning we visited Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. We sat with a wonderful view of the strip and Bellagio. It’s weird and disappointing seeing trucks advertising going down the street while we ate breakfast…
There were some crazy Sparrows there. The would fly right above the tables and head straight for me and then just graze by me.
The food was wonderful along with the service, even though our server messed up our order and it took over a hour and a half to get our food. We were ideal customers though and did not complain.
Friday night we were at the relatives visiting with the family that came from all around the world, including Vancouver, New York, Netherlands, and … It was fun to see everyone and ‘catch up’.
My brother and his step-son flew in late Friday and left early Sunday, just coming for the wedding. We went to Calico in the morning and explored this old mining town. I had been there as a kid so it was fun seeing it again, even if it lost some of it’s enchantment.
Tyler made a leather punch bracelet along with one for his mother.
The highlight of our visit was panning for gold. I remember trying it as a kid and it was very hard, but it did better now. I found a sizable amount, even if it wasn’t real…
The sheriff’s building is made entirely of old glass bottles.
We had to stop at In and Out! It was incredibly busy but very good. I heard that they were ranked by one group as the best fast food.
